Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy, by definition, is treatment to restore, maintain and optimize a person’s mobility, function and complete state of well-being. Physiotherapists are experts in the landscape of the human body, meaning they understand anatomy, physiology, neurology and basically the entire inner workings of the musculoskeletal system. A physiotherapist can determine if you have imbalances or deficiencies within your muscles, joints or nerves that predispose you to injury.

A physiotherapist can optimize your current health status and even implement preventative strategies to prevent disease an injury throughout your lifespan.

At PhysioSphere, our commitment to you is to provide an exceptional therapeutic experience. This means professional, educated, experienced therapists, who utilize techniques that are clinically proven to alleviate pain and musculoskeletal injury.

We offer a team of professionals who are passionate about their respective fields and continually expand their knowledge as science evolves. We do not employ assistants, as our mandate is to not dilute the level of care you receive. Your entire appointment will be spent with a Registered Physiotherapist.

of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) that have advanced training and clinical abilities in manual and manipulative therapy. FCAMPT is a trademarked and protected title that only CAMPT-Certified physiotherapists can use.

FCAMPT physiotherapists undergo extensive training following graduation from their entry-level physiotherapy programs in the area of orthopaedics and hands-on therapy. This research-based training helps our patients get better, recover faster and stay healthier to return to pain-free living.

Physiotherapists who hold the FCAMPT/OMPT designation have completed extensive post-graduate education in the area of orthopaedics, attaining a specialization above the core level university Physiotherapy Program.

FCAMPT/OMPT Physiotherapists are equipped with advanced knowledge and treatment tools to manage complex pathology and movement disorders of both the spine and extremities.

They are committed to providing the highest level of quality, patient-centred care combining clinical experience with evidence-based practice.

Medical acupuncture is the insertion of needles into tissues to affect muscle, tendon, bone, capsule or neurological structures. When a needle is inserted into the skin, tiny mechanoreceptors or pressure receptors within the tissue are “activated”, stimulating nerves and causing a chain reaction of biochemical events, which may include the release of inflammatory modulators or neurohormones which work directly on pain.
Medical acupuncture is derived from traditional Chinese practices that originated 4000 years ago, however, the placement of the needles and the resultant effects are grounded in modern anatomical and physiological theory as accepted in Western medical science.

“How does inserting fine needles into tissue help my injury?”

Physiotherapists and patients themselves have all struggled conceptually with the idea that inserting fine needles into tissue can have a useful effect.
The modern scientific explanation is that needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body’s own internal regulating system.
The improved biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body’s natural healing abilities, promoting healing of muscles, tendon and joint injuries.

There is a solution for your child's bladder leaks.

Urinary incontinence is the medical term that is used to describe the condition when a child experiences bladder leaks after the age of 5 (daytime or nighttime). Intermittent bladder leaks before the age of 5 are not usually of medical concern and can be attributed to normal maturation of the urinary system.

Urinary incontinence can be the elephant in the room for families dealing with this medical problem. As you can imagine, this medical problem creates an immense amount of stress on the child and greatly affects his/her quality of life.

Daytime bladder leaks affect 7-10% of children between the ages of 5-13. Urinary incontinence is an umbrella term which means it captures a varying array of pathologies.

Due to the variability of causes, the key to successful treatment includes accurate diagnosis. Examples of diagnoses are: overactive bladder, dysfunctional voiding, underactive bladder, voiding postponement, stress incontinence or enuresis (nighttime bladder leaks).

Urotherapy is the first line treatment for all types of daytime urinary incontinence. Urotherapy is bladder re-education and rehabilitation and may include various things from voiding schedules, dietary changes, muscle biofeedback and exercises.
